coBuilder announce construction product data exploitation partnership with Skanska

coBuilder have today announced a new strategic partnership with a global construction and engineering company.

The product data experts are to work alongside Skanska, collecting and exploiting the data from the latter’s projects. coBuilder will work closely with Skanska’s supply chain to “ensure they understand what data they require, in which formats and when it is needed”, that’s according to an official press release.

coBuilder’s goBIM and ProductXchange products will be utilised by manufacturers Skanska work with, enabling them to understand how much of their product information is relevant for Skanska, and how best utilise that data in a BIM-compatible format. Following that, they can turn it into COBie data.

“At Skanska, receiving the right information from the right people at the right time is paramount,” Gary Scott, BIM and Digital Engineering Specialist at Skanska UK explained. “How we manage information is a key part of this, and we want to work with a supply chain that can share the right data with us during the bid and operational delivery stages of our projects, and make future operations and maintenance more efficient.

“We need to work with our supply chain to produce this data in a standardised format that ensures we have the right information to deliver a quality project to our clients. Which is why we have selected coBuilder to help us communicate to manufacturers and suppliers what information and format is needed, and to ensure our supply chain has an aligned solution to share their data with us and our clients.”

Also commenting was Nick Tune, coBuilder UK’s CEO: “All the data that the clients, contractors and FMs require from the manufacturers is available. The manufacturers have it already in PDFs and unstructured databases. By utilising goBIM they can structure their data and make it available in all required BIM formats.

“coBuilder’s mission is to digitise the construction industry by making it easy for manufactures to share data and for contractors to collect it, utilise it, and pass on accurate information and data to their customers.”
