The event, in partnership with buildingSMART UK will tackle three key themes of ‘Practical Delivery of Level 2‘, ‘Do We Have The skills?’ and ‘Where Next‘ over April 6th and 7th. The event will happen just days after the UK Government’s BIM mandate comes into effect on April 4th, as enforced by the BIM Task Group.
April 4th, 2016 is the first day that centrally procured public sector projects will require the implementation of BIM at Level 2. In addition, centrally funded government departments will be required to provide “clear and complete” EIRs with all contracts.
To discuss the mandate, whether the industry is up to the job and the future such as BIM Level 3 and a Digital Built Britain, nine presenters have thus far been announced as taking to the rostrum.
Skills will be firmly on the mind of Dayle Zieleniewski, Training Manager at BIM training suite Campus. Dayle has just completed his first phase of tutelage for the company, which saw nine young people take part in six weeks of tough training to become knowledgeable with the crucial BIM knowledge that industry is looking for today.
Juxtaposing Dayle’s experience in teaching will be Arto Kiviniemi, Professor of Digital Architectural Design at the University of Liverpool. Campus training is seen as the missing piece for university leavers looking to work in digital construction, so will these two professionals with alternating styles of education agree when it comes to a skills shortage?
