BIMcrunch announce Media Partnership with SkyTech 2016

SkyTech 1

What with 2015 drawing to a close, we thought it was now a fantastic time to announce our first media partnership of 2016!

BIMcrunch have been awarded Media Partner status to SkyTech 2016, a two-day tradeshow dedicated to advancing the European commercial drone industry. The Drone Expo is taking place on January 27th-28th, 2016 at the Business Design Centre in London.

Drones are becoming increasingly incorporated into BIM projects, being utilised to capture video that can then be converted in 3D models. This means UAV technology can be used in-conjunction with laser scanning techniques to capture existing buildings as BIMs for asset and facilities management purposes.

Drones can also be used to check hard-to-reach areas of a site to highlight where problems may have arisen in real-time. Looking over a model is not always enough, and drones can add an extra layer of scrutiny to ensure efficiency and health & safety.

The Conference Programme for the event has been released and is split into four sections. UAV Applications, UAV Industry and UAV Survey Conferences are taking place, as are Beginner Workshops. Whilst speakers have not yet been confirmed, all timings and presentation themes have been revealed, and usage of drones for construction, infrastructure and asset management is occurring on Day Two.

Discussing the collaboration with BIMcrunch, Project Manager of SkyTech organisers Charles Maxwell, Megan Roden told us: “We are delighted to have a media partnership with BIMcrunch. As a leading source for industry news we couldn’t be more excited to work with them and to draw upon their expertise to promote the use of drones within the BIM industry.”

We are massively excited to learn something new ourselves and to learn from professionals who have first-hand experience of how to get the most out of drones within BIM projects. Bring on January!

In the coming months, we will bring you more news on SkyTech 2016’s line-up, including speakers relevant to the Building Information Modelling sector. For more information on SkyTech, visit their official website, Facebook and Twitter accounts.
