Forget these guys, The B1M‘s Fred Mills is the only myth buster that the Building Information Modelling community needs.

The popular video resource release BIM related videos each and every Wednesday, and they could be focusing on BIM hot topics, spotlighting an industry event, discussing a current trend or highlighting the great work of a business in a documentary.

This week’s visual is a countdown clip, a slightly more succinct variant of their Top 10 countdown posted a few months ago. This week’s countdown looks at the Top 3 BIM myths, and Fred dispels them for the benefit of any doubters watching via YouTube.

BIM projects taking up too much time is a common viewpoint Fred looks at in the video. Fred says that some businesses have reported efficiencies of up to 20% on some of their projects. Fred uses an example to explain the value in that: “In your five-day working week, 20% represents an entire day. If you can realise these efficiency savings, that’s an extra day in every week of your financial year that your competitors who are behind on BIM adoption won’t have.

“If you invest time as an organisation in getting yourself up to speed initially, you can actually save time and make more money. Unless you use that extra day I spoke about to take Fridays off!”
