US technology giant Trimble have announced their acquisition of Norwegian Building Information Modelling experts Vianova Systems.

Whilst the terms of the deal have not been disclosed, we do know what elements of Vianova’s business has been sold. The Construction Index has reported that Vianova’s wholly-owned operations in their native Norway, Denmark and Sweden are within the agreement, as are partially-owned subsidiaries in France and the Benelux region.

Idar Kirkhorn, CEO of the BIM for infrastructure “pioneers” addressed the acquisition: “The addition of our solutions to Trimble’s leading portfolio of construction positioning and workflow automation solutions extends our collective ability to deliver the Constructible Model as early in the lifecycle as possible. Our existing customers will benefit from the combination as we continue to develop, sell and support our Novapoint and Quadri products.”

Trimble’s Vice President of the Civil Engineering and Construction Division, Roz Buick also commented: “The combination of Vianova Systems’ building information modelling capabilities and Trimble’s ability to drive constructability into workflows will optimize both site and project processes. With Vianova Systems, we can now deliver solutions for the owner, engineer and contractor to more closely collaborate on civil projects. “The resulting set of solutions will enable significant efficiencies, driving greater transformation in the industry.”
