A NORTH EAST company which is leading the way in cloud computing has appointed a new chairman as it targets national growth.

Kelvin Harrison joins Newcastle-based Atlas Cloud to strengthen the board of directors as the company accelerates into a national company.

Atlas Cloud is the BIM enablement platform, and has revolutionised the way client companies communicate and collaborate as a business and with their clients and contractors. Atlas, which has offices in Collingwood Street in central Newcastle and bases in London, Leeds and Manchester, increases business efficiency, productivity and agility by providing a fully managed, customised cloud platform which delivers email, applications and data in a client specific Common Data Environment, ensuring employees can access information from any device.

Kelvin brings to Atlas Cloud a wealth of experience in the technology sector, having established himself as an experienced chairman and non-executive director of public and private companies. His background includes a number of roles as CEO of technology and service businesses seeking a turn-around and profits growth. He also brings experience of London Stock Exchange and AIM flotation and private equity.

“It’s an exciting opportunity and a great fit with my own experience,” he said about his appointment.

“I understand the cloud sector and the trends of development of what’s been coming through over the last few years and what is coming through over the next few. When I met Atlas Cloud I felt they had a good offering and the outlook is very positive.”

The new chairman is already looking ahead and has identified the next steps for the company as it continues to strengthen its position as the leading cloud solutions company.

“The priority is growth,” he added. “What Atlas Cloud has is very scalable; everything is in place to generate more high quality opportunities in sales and deliver them professionally and efficiently with a lot of quality.

“The good thing is that the customers are happy. A lot of cloud companies have a lot of issues with their customers and that’s not the case here with Atlas Cloud. Other cloud companies have a history of not delivering what’s promised and that’s not the case here at all.”

Atlas Cloud specialises in providing cloud-based solutions to the construction sector, driving business change and improvement through the application of its IT systems, applications and platforms to enable staff to employ the latest virtualisation technology such as 3D modelling applications from any location, including on-site, as well as provide multiple-user access to single versions of documents to reduce data duplication. This means that employees involved in projects can access their entire work desktop over wireless, 3G or 4G on any device.

In addition to enabling construction staff to take advantage of remote working opportunities, Atlas Cloud’s support also provides access to the client’s data from any office from a Common Data Environment, which simplifies file sharing and enables the use of tools and technologies associated with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Revit.
