Following our up-close look at two of the teams competing in Build New York Live yesterday, today we present to you profiles of two more groups vying to be the best in the collaborative Building Information Modelling contest.
BIM Unlimited have 13 team members representing 8 companies across Belgium, the Dominican Republic, Japan, Norway and the United Kingdom – now that is an international force to be reckoned with. Disciplines within the team include architects, MEP designers, structural engineers, BIM architects, architectural technologists, BIM managers and External Airflow Simulation & Analysis team members. Quite the team!
Their Team Leader Martyn Horne told us: “BIM Unlimited is an international team of individuals led by a desire to create innovative architecture within a collaborative BIM workflow. A number of the team have previous experience of a Build Live competition.
“The lead architect Ruben Fernandez and his team of architects at Modo Forma have created some sophisticated architectural concepts in previous competitions with complex, non standard geometry and the rest of the multidiscipline team are once again looking forward to responding to these concepts this time around.
“All of the major disciplines within the team use a different primary software within their specialist fields of Architecture, Structural Design and Analysis and MEP Design and exchange their BIM models using IFC. We also welcome some new team members with expertise in the area of External Airflow from Japan this time around and look forward to seeing what we can create in the short timeframe allowed.”
The second team in the spotlight today are Egypt-based ElSarhaBIM, led by Mohamed ElSarha. Their five-strong team features a Architectural Coordinator, a duo of architects, a mechanical engineer and an electrical mechanical engineer. They told BIMcrunch: “We combine our experiences as a team with a passion for technology to improve the way buildings are designed, built and operated. We provide strategic advising to building design professionals, contractors and owners seeking to supplant traditional project delivery methods through technology driven process innovation.
“Our team wishes to make a difference in the AEC Industry using BIM technology and to make a change in the architecture design sector with new novelty building forms to make our future looks better and amazing.”
It really is incredibly encouraging to see professionals from across the globe collaborate due to the nature of BIM. Best of luck to both of these teams and all of the Build New York Live competitors!
