A brand new event focusing on where BIM meets rail is to take place in November, and we have the latest details.
Five speakers have been announced for the event, including AECOM and the BIM Task Group‘s David Philp, BIM.Technologies‘ Olly Thomas, HS2‘s Jon Kerbey, plus Andrew Powell and Paul Tretheway of Parsons Brinckerhoff. It can be assumed that more speakers are to be announced as the complete conference schedule has been released, with some themes revealed without a professional attached to them.
Regarding the programme for the event, David Philp will provide the opening address, whilst a symposium titled Connecting BIM to the Victorian Infrastructure will follow. Conversation surrounding the Northern Line extension and Crossrail are also scheduled to take place, as is a talk on Immersive Visualisation Tools. The entire schedule can be viewed here.
We reached out to BIM.Technologies’ Olly Thomas, and he told us this this event is an “important” one that will raise “relevant” issues: “The use of BIM in the rail industry has never been so relevant. As we embark on the one of the most ambitions infrastructure projects in the UK, BIM Level 2 will set the minimum requirements for project process and outputs.
“The BIM Rail Summit is an important part of ensuring supplier awareness and understanding of BIM, the challenges and opportunities it can bring and its significant relevance to the rail industry.”
