Spanish Government announce BIM implementation committee

Ana Pastor, Minister of Development for the Spanish Government has today announced the creation of a Building Information Modelling committee for the country.

According to Europa Press, Pastor declared that the group was formed due to BIM “being implemented progressively and as a tool, demand is growing day by day worldwide”. (Translation courtesy of Google)

The news follows the UK equivalent, BIM Task Group‘s mandatory utilisation of Level 2 BIM on public sector projects by 2016. France are also set to mandate BIM come 2017. Also, just last year, “the EU called for the first time whether to incorporate BIM technology to modernize and improve public procurement processes”, according to the article.
