The Chartered Institute of Servicing Engineers have dedicated their CIBSE Journal‘s latest issue to Building Information Modelling, and the magazine plays host to various exciting pieces of editorial featuring case studies and the opinion of top industry professionals.
One of the most interesting articles spotlights a challenging BIM project at University College Dublin that saw the formation of 21 brand-new laboratories. Contractor John Sisk labelled BIM as “the perfect tool” to carry out the work they needed to fulfil as it enabled them “to identify potential installation and design issues in the complex laboratories and plantrooms.”
Case studies like this are so valuable for those wishing to adopt BIM to read to achieve a basis for how to go about their future work, and more case studies from IES discussing sharing data earlier in the BIM process, G+H Building Services talking M&E and another from Arup who discuss their complex model (available to view in an astonishingly detailed picture) of a project based at Birmingham City University.
