Laing O’Rourke have been crowned the winner of ‘BIM Initiative of the Year‘ at the Building Awards 2015.

Organised by Building, one of the UK‘s leading construction magazines, the prestigious event was hosted by none other than Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams.

Despite the BIM Initiative result being spoiled in the official programme prior to the announcement, Walliams has received rave reviews for his hosting skills, seemingly numbing the disappointment slightly for the runners-up who did not manage to take home the coveted award.

Laing O’Rourke’s ‘BIM. Now its personal‘ initiative bested the competition in the narrowly-fought contest that also featured the likes of Arup, AECOM and NBS.

BIM. Now its personal is an online training programme that allows employees to hone their BIM skills depending on the type of project they are working on.

Comedic relief came before the award was officially announced when Award Presenter, Tony Ryan arrived on stage. Ryan is the CEO of Asite, the company sponsoring the BIM category prize. When in-place to reveal the winner, David Walliams proceeded to passionately kiss Tony – I’m sure he feels like a winner too!

Congratulations to Laing O’Rourke! Other winners from other categories can be found on Building Awards‘ official Twitter account.
