Today marks two weeks until the first event organised by the West Midlands BIM Hub in 2015.

The UK‘s BIM Task Group and Construction Industry Council set up 11 geographical groups back in 2012, with all of them tasked to create a space for local Building Information Modelling professionals to get together and discuss national trends on a regional basis, one of which is the WM BIM Hub.

Following the reassembling of the team and the appointment of a new Regional BIM Champion (BIM.TechnologiesOlly Thomas now holds the position), the year’s first event hosted by the reenergised collective also coincides with the launch of the hub’s new website.

The BIM Task Group’s Fiona Moore has been announced as the Guest Speaker at the event. Fiona – who is also Director at Cirrus Consulting Services – will update delegates on the Level 2 BIM mandate and will share experiences from her involvement with BIM Academy and the Ministry of Justice.

A brief introduction to the NBS Digital Toolkit and Government Soft Landings will also form part of the conference.

Marketing Coordinator for the WM BIM Hub, Joanna Marshall spoke about the future of the Hub and what can be expected from attending the event. She told BIMcrunch: “We are really excited about moving the BIM Hub forward during 2015. Construction in the West Midlands is growing and with some fantastic new projects underway like the redevelopment of Birmingham’s New Street Station and the £150 million leisure complex, Resorts World.

“There has been a new steering group put in place and throughout 2015 we will be holding a series of events with knowledgeable guest speakers and the opportunity to discuss BIM with industry peers.

“We’re always looking for more people to get involved and anyone interested in speaking or hosting a future event in the West Midlands, get in touch!”

The West Midlands BIM Hub’s ‘Government’s Level 2 BIM Programme Update‘ takes place on Wednesday, May 6th, 2015. To sign up for the free event, click here. Make sure to also follow the Hub on Twitter – @WMBIMHub.
