BIM Academy release Build Newcastle Live summary video

Building Information Modelling centre of excellence BIM Academy have released a video summarising their journey through the Build Newcastle Live competition.

BIM Academy were at the helm of the NE1 for BIM conglomerate team made up of Howard Russell, i2c, NBS, Northumbria University and Ryder Architecture amongst others.

The two minute clip features BIM model and rendered images of NE1 for BIM’s proposed building that would sit along Newcastle’s Quayside, the area selected for project teams to model for the contest. The video looks at the following stages of the competition: design review, BREEAM assessment, environmental analysis, structural analysis, design coordination, content creation, NBS specification, BIM toolkit utilisation, COBie, 4D construction simulation, 5D cost planning, software platform utilisation and finally, information management – a lot for two minutes!

The 48-hour period of hard work paid off for the collective as they won the gong for Best Multi-Disciplinary BIM & Use of Interoperability.
