There is a “high demand” for professionals with experience using Autodesk Revit and other Building Information Modelling software, that’s according to a new report.

Sourceable have examined the results of The Hays Quarterly Report for Construction and Property for the first quarter of 2015, which states that architectural practice employers believe proficient BIM expertise on an applicant CV is a “major bonus”.

Due to its stance as market-leader, Autodesk Revit experience is the most sought-after BIM attribute of an prospective employee, as is any background in BIM relating to “commercial and multi-residential projects”.

Another trend noticed within the quarterly report was that smaller businesses with a specialism in residential projects “particularly eager” to hire architects with knowledge of GRAPHISOFT ArchiCAD.

The information relating to the Autodesk and GRAPHISOFT matches that of a recent BIM4SM2 survey, which saw both software platforms most popular amongst the professionals they surveyed.

The Hays report also identified having over 5 years experience and “ability to handle projects through the entire process of development” as other desirable traits that employers will be looking for.
