BIMcrunch reported the story of Philp’s change in organisation last month, and now he has provided an official statement. Despite evidence as suggested via Philp’s LinkedIn account, his role with the firm has now been officially confirmed as Director of BIM for the EMEA and India regions.
In a quote published via New Civil Engineer, Philp addressed his change in organisation, describing his new company as “exciting”. “The fact that AECOM’s design, build, finance and operate model encompasses the entire asset lifecycle is exciting and I look forward to experiencing a fully multi-disciplinary offer, powered by BIM, in execution as never before,” said Philp.
“There is an extremely solid foundation to build on with digital tools and processes already in position. BIM is very much an enabler and will help us virtually prototype our solutions so we are able to pass on the benefits achieved through optimisation and greater efficiency to our clients.”
AECOM’s EMEA and India Managing Director, John Horgan also provided his thoughts, stating: “David’s experience will further enhance our BIM capabilities, bringing leading edge UK expertise to the wider EMEAI geography.”
Construction Enquirer have elaborated further on Philp’s role. The former Balfour Beatty BIM Programme Director is to work alongside David Bennison, who is at the helm of AECOM’s EMEA and India Technology & Data Solutions Group. Together, they will oversee “consistency, quality and innovation in the way data and BIM are managed and developed across the region”.
