Autodesk Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) software developer Stabiplan have released their European-wide set of Building Information Modelling standards for Autodesk Revit.

The Netherlands-based firm have released their European MEPcontent Standard (EMCS) as “the answer to the question of MEP engineers and manufacturers for uniform and classified content for the building services industry in Europe”.

The standards are Europe-wide to enable a less fragmented approach and enables manufacturers to not limit their product lines to a single country.

The following criteria is determined by the EMCS:

– Naming conventions;
– Rules about the main properties of a family (Revit category, host);
– Rules about using parameters;
– Rules about creating the geometry/representation;
– Rules about connectors;
– Rules about classification data and supporting external standards.
