A new report has looked at Gateshead, United Kingdom based Portland Consulting Engineers and their continued investment in Building Information Modelling that has lead them to major success in the past year.
In 2014, Portland have won an array of contracts – especially in the social housing sector – resulting them increasing turnover by 25%, which has in turn allowed them to increase their workforce by 40%.
Current projects that the team are working on include a hydrotherapy pool, student accommodation and education centres in Middlesbrough and York, resulting in £18 million of work.
Portland’s Managing Director Lee Barr says investment in BIM and then the employment of “highly experienced individuals” has been the key to their success. He said: “With a rise in demand for our services, I am confident that our development strategy for sustainable growth is being delivered with strong results.
“We continue to invest in BIM technology to stay abreast of the advances in construction and together with recruitment and retention of highly experienced individuals, we cannot only meet the demands and requirements of clients, but do so without compromising on our quality of services.”
