What is your favourite career related website/blog?
Do you have a favourite industry book, magazine or publication?
I always keep an eye out for the monthly editions of BD (Building Design) but reading is a luxury for me, so if I have any spare time to indulge, I’d opt to lose myself in a novel.
The top industry event you have recently been to is?
Tough choice as I’ve been lucky to attend several lately. For me, BIM Show Live is the biggest event in the UK and I’m already getting excited already for next year’s! But recently, I was lucky enough to attend RTC Europe in Dublin, Sleep’s ‘The Hotel Design Event’ and BSL for Manufacturers. All were fantastic!
Favourite Twitter handles to follow?
Not a handle, yet #UKBIMcrew; despite the often very informative and industry knowledge tweets, they never fail to keep me entertained with the banter and trials of their day in the world of BIM. A few particular mentions in terms of handles would go to @Revitspace and @ThePhilpster.
What is your all-time favourite building?
I’m so excited to get to visit the Empire State Building in a few weeks, so I’ll need to get back to you on that.
What is your favourite (BIM object) project that you have worked on?
They’re all my favourites! At bimstore, we like to develop a partnership with the manufacturer throughout their BIM journey, and each project has its own merits.
What is the best thing about the team at bimstore?
I’m lucky to work with such a committed and innovative team. I hate the word ‘passionate’ in business, but in our case, it definitely applies. We take a real pride in what we produce and consistently strive to remain the leaders in our field. That takes a lot of hard work behind the scenes, but the best thing is the fun we have along the way. ‘Work Hard, Play Hard’ is definitely the motto here.
The most exciting possibilities Building Information Modelling can offer are?
I get very excited about the possibilities of where BIM can take us as an industry. Product innovation has always been there yet BIM enables us to expand on that innovation and start utilising the data in so many visual and interactive ways.
Who or what made you want to work within the Architecture, Engineering and Construction sector?
It was BIM that excited me – seeing the possibilities for the future of the construction Industry is incredibly exciting.
What is your proudest career highlight?
Seeing bimstore develop into the UK leaders for content creation and hosting of BIM content. Our success has been built on our reputation, not through any inflated marketing budgets or promotional campaigns. It has been hard work, industry knowledge and expertise.
What is the best part about your job?
I think anyone who’s met me knows how much I believe in what bimstore can offer. We’re the best at what we do and it makes my job a whole lot easier.
Check back on Tuesday January 20th, 2014 for the next edition of BIM Brunch.
