Building Information Modelling management software developers Business Collaborator have announce a major overhaul of company operations.

Business Collaborator – which was owned by Netherlands-based firm UNIT4 – has now seen it’s management team buy out their Dutch corporate owners to create a new company in it’s own right.

To be based in the current UK HQ in Reading, the new corporation will still distribute their Building Information Modelling project collaboration products. The sale is an amicable agreement on both parts too, as the two parties have agreed for UNIT4 to redistribute Business Collaborator BIM products for three more years.

The purchase of the brand and software could be down to a large increase in usage of Business Collaborator products. According to Insider Media, a total of 54% of construction professionals used Business Collaborator’s BIM systems in 2014, a statistic which is up from 41% in 2013.

Carl Houghton is part of business advisors Clearwater International, who aided Business Collaborator with their takeover. He commented: “Whilst it has taken some time to mature, we are very bullish about the growth of quality BIM assets and we are delighted to help the team to carve out Business Collaborator from its corporate parent.

“We have seen a number of BIM related software businesses go for strong valuations recently and private equity interest in the sector is at an all-time high.”
