New-look launches

The wait is over. No, the F.R.I.E.N.D.S cast haven’t reunited for a movie… the new-look BIMcrunch is here of course!
Your leading resource for all Building Information Modelling news and views and Social Media and Communications Awards 2014 nominee are pleased to present the all new BIMcrunch website. We’ve stepped into 2014 with our simplistic and bold new facelift as although the old site was a tad retro, it’s not Thursday everyday and we wanted to stop providing throwbacks.

Shall we address the elephant in the room? Or should that be an orange elephant? We have been tangoed and have adopted an awesome amber look. Why you ask? All will be revealed in due course. Yup, we’re not done with the cryptic behaviour. Let’s just say we’re colour coordinating with a certain someone yet they are a little shy and are not ready for the spotlight just yet.

Let’s go for a tour shall we? At the top of the site, we have our navigation bar, tailored to ensure that finding the content you want is as easy as possible. Content is separated into the following categories: Home / News / Features / Opinion / Diary / BIM Jobs.

Home is pretty self-explanatory and takes users back to our homepage at the click of a mouse. The Homepage features two lists highlighting the most recent BIM and Industry News whilst also showcasing the latest Features on the left-hand side. Top stories are positioned at the top on a clickable slider and interactive social media coverage is also easy accessible. A mini version of the BIM Diary is present at the bottom, alongside the newest images from the #Bimagery Instagram feed and a collection from BIMcrunch’s tagging system.

Regarding tags, all articles are now comprehensively categorised and tagged, meaning you can access BIM stories relating to a specific company or BIM professional in more ways than ever. In another form of interactivity, commenting on posts has never been easier. You can sign in by creating a Discus account or by logging-in via social media platforms.

News is split into our two classic categories: BIM News and Industry News. BIM News looks at the latest projects, partnerships and reports that are making the headlines, whilst Industry News focuses on the latest training opportunities, awards ceremonies, must-attend events on the BIM Calendar, the latest releases in BIM objects and up-to-date information on BIM software. In short, BIM News focuses on what the #GlobalBIMCrew do and think whilst Industry News highlights what we can attend and use. A subtle divide that we thinks make all the difference in helping you find what you want.

The Features menu does exactly what it says on the tin and is home to BIMcrunch’s exclusive interviews and features. Best BIM Bad BIM and BIM Brunch have been revitalised and are returning and we are welcoming newbies Crunch Time and Company Spotlight into the features fold. Additional information on these is provided in our image gallery below. All four are bi-weekly and alternate in pairs. Expect BIM Brunch on Tuesdays and Company Spotlight on Thursdays with the following week comprising of Best BIM, Bad BIM on Mondays and Crunch Time on Fridays.

The Opinion section houses BIMcrunch guest articles and Editorial content. The BIMcrunch Editorial sees Editor Jack White ponder over a particular topic whilst BIM Voice gives a member of the Building Information Modelling community a platform to share their thoughts, feelings, insight and experiences. Open BIM is a weekly social media shout-out, giving you the chance to feature on BIMcrunch.

BIMcrunch’s BIM Diary (follow it on Twitter for updates on new additions @BIMDiary) is powered by BIM.TechnologiesBen Malone. The latest and greatest upcoming BIM events will be a part of the calendar so if you want to be in the know, our BIM Diary is the resource you need.

Finally, BIM Jobs is a feed of posts dedicated to current vacancies relating to BIM that are currently available. Check back for information on job listings that may provide the chance or change that you are looking for.

Well, we think that’s covered it! Keep it locked to BIMcrunch, your leading resource for all Building Information Modelling news and views.
