The 2014 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo comes to a close today in New Orleans, Louisiana and GRAPHISOFT have been on-hand to showcase how Building Information Modelling can provide sustainable energy solutions.

Using their flagship ArchiCAD 18 software, Architosh have reported that the technology mega-brand were present at the event to represent BIM as one of the latest technology platforms that can positively impact the way in which we consume and preserve energy.

Energy-related capabilities that ArchiCAD 18 possesses include the ability to convert a Building Information Model into a Building Energy Model, or BEM. This process allows architects to analyse their energy performance, get instant results and then formulate changes if they wish.

“Our longstanding commitment to sustainable design is best represented in the seamless integration of our building energy modeling solution into the building information model,” said Steve Benford, GRAPHISOFT North America’s Managing Director.

“Using our solution, designers can generate an indicative energy footprint early in the process to inform decisions about energy use and ultimately result in more sustainable buildings.”
