AEC sector technical services provider Aurecon have facilitated a trip to Australia from one of the UK’s most influential figures in Building Information Modelling.
Mark Bew, Chairman of the BIM Task Group, is due to return home from Down Under today after a week-long stay, a fruitful trip that has seen the chartered engineer takes part in various conferences as a guest speaker and meet with Australasian industry groups in which has has been able to share his expertise and experiences.
Aurecon orchestrated several of these events, and their Information Management Practice Leader, Integrated Project Delivery Systems, Gavin Cotterill discussed bringing Bew to the ANZ (Australia and New Zealand) region. He said: “Our Integrated Project Delivery Systems group at Aurecon have recognised the work that is being done in the UK, USA, Singapore and other parts of the world have realised that BIM will become the established way of the construction industry.
“To create better understanding within our marketplace, we invited Mark Bew and the UK Government to present their experiences to government and industry stakeholders here in Australia.”
Elaborating further on Bew’s commitments whilst in Australia, Cotterill stated: “Using our contacts in Australia, we set up meetings with a number of key government officials to discuss where Australia and its design and construction industries should be heading. Aurecon’s initiative aligns to the recent Australian Government Productivity Commission report which recommended the adoption of BIM.”
