Tocci Building Companies announce new hotel BIM project

Tocci Building Companies have announced their latest Building Information Modelling contract, a venture that will see them partner with Claremont Companies.

Nerej are reporting that The Boston, Massachusetts-based virtual construction specialists are to create a BIM of Brookline Homewood Suites, a hotel complex to be completed by December 2015. The hotel is 97,775 square feet in size with 130 rooms based in Woburn, Massachusetts.

The Building Information Model will be used by owners Claremont, architectural practice Group One Partners, Inc and R.W. Sullivan Engineering to allow for the coordination of project systems, the streamlining of the construction process and to act as a communication tool for the project team and community to understand the mitigation plan. The aforementioned streamlining of construction is a major positive aspect of using BIM as the hotel’s site is close to a community park, adding a higher level of complexity to the logistics the build. BIM will ensure that there is enough space for equipment to arrive on-site and then have room to move when carrying out work.

Tocci’s CEO John Tocci spoke of the new BIM opportunity. He said: “We are excited to manage this unique urban project as it presents complex logistical challenges. Our approach using BIM allows us to sequence every aspect of the project and account for site restrictions, traffic flow, and tight schedules while ensuring optimal project execution.”

This news comes after Tocci’s Laura Handler’s BIM blog made the news on BIMcrunch just yesterday.
