The latest version of Ideate’s BIMLink plug-in has been released and is available for download.
Ideate BIMLink 2015 pulls Building Information Modelling information from an Autodesk Revit file, transfers it to Microsoft Excel (where the user can get unprecedented access) before transferring it back to Revit. AECOM’s Elizabeth Peters once described the add-on as “an incredibly powerful tool” before pondering: “What we would have done before we got this tool gives me a headache to think about it.”
The extension has the unique ability to report room or space data in relation to View References, which is the term used to describe annotation elements such as cameras or elevation marks.
In a blog on the Ideate website, a graphic is displayed showing how the plug-in works with Microsoft Excel. In Excel, Elevation Name and Elevation Number are brought together with information on Elevation Orientation to make-up a value for the view direction.
