The National Federation of Builders (NFB) has launched a new training scheme aimed at creating the BIM Champions of the future.
The Business and Skills division of the NFB, which tackles training and development, will carry-out a twelve tutelage sessions aimed at inspiring people to help enforce full BIM adoption within their companies.
The term ‘BIM Champion’ refers to an individual who can help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) compete with their larger-sized opponents by making sure they get all the support they need to become knowledgeable regarding Building Information Modelling. It is often the case that BIM Champions are external to the companies they are helping yet this new NFB training programme will aim to increase the number of BIM experts.
The CPD certified five-day training will take place over five months and will help participants understand BIM and it’s internal benefits, provide a detailed explanation on the Government’s 2016 public sector project mandate, give the wannabe champions the correct tools to drive change within their firms and also give them a certificate showcasing their CPD qualification.
Karen Dawes, NFB Training Manager spoke of the training inititative: “The NFB has played a significant role in supporting SME construction companies with BIM implementation since the Construction Strategy identified it as an enabler of efficiency and cost savings”, said Dawes.
“Working with companies across a wide cross-section of the industry has enabled us to identify and develop programmes that offer real value to those participating. We expect demand for the BIM Champion programme to be high given the relevance and importance of BIM to the SME sector.”
