BIMBrunch: Rebecca De Cicco

Since graduating as an architect in Australia in 2002, innovation has been the platform for Rebecca’s career, understanding through practical experience how new technology can promote excellence throughout the entire building lifecycle.

This underpins her role at David Miller Architects where she trials and applies new techniques to develop intelligent solutions. Rebecca is also part of the UK Government’s BIM Task Group and Steering Group Lead for the CIC’s BIM2050 group.

Favourite website

I try to get onto Revit Forums Daily, which I love. http://www.revitforum.org/ is fantastic as there is always something to learn. Second to this is http://www.ted.com/. My end game is to speak at a TEDx event and I am actually attending TEDx Dublin this weekend.

Best book

There are so many – but my favourite at the moment is one that something Neil Thompson introduced me to which I have just started reading; ‘Understanding Organisations’, by Charles Handy.

Top event attended recently

Autodesk events are brilliant. Autodesk University and the Gunslinger events top any other event annually. Trumps to BIM Show Live this year though, as it was very good.

Favourite Twitter handle to follow

There are a few: @TED @ forbes @geometrygym @revitforum.

Blog you regularly read

I usually follow people and organisations via Twitter and, if necessary, go to blogs that appeal to me at the time. If there were one to choose regarding Revit blogs then whatrevitwants is very good, also Luke Johnson is from Adelaide!

Networking event you regularly attend

I can’t really put my finger on only one – there are too many! But always up for BIM banter and chat when the community is out and about.
