The Republic of Ireland‘s Construction IT Alliance (CITA) yesterday announced that their network of Building Information Modelling professionals, the CITA BIM Group, have been welcomed into the UK BIM Task Group‘s official fold of Regional BIM Hubs as honorary members.
At their Smarter Building Series – PAS1192 Execution Planning event in Dublin (July 16th, 2015), BAM‘s Michael Murphy discussed the new CITA BIM Hub brand, describing it as “recognition from our colleagues in the UK that we are ready to be here” and “a moment in time” that is “very serious”.
Murphy then announced that he is to act as Chairperson for the CITA Eastern Ireland BIM Hub, a “tremendous challenge” that he was looking forward to. An additional duo of BIM Hubs have also been formed: the CITA Western Ireland BIM Hub and CITA Southern Ireland BIM Hub. CITA’s hubs will also liaise regularly as cross-border partners with Mark McKane of the already established NI BIM Hub.
Currently, the BIM Champions for the Western and Southern BIM Hubs have not yet been chosen, so CITA are calling on their members to put themselves forward to stand for the positions.
