A construction firm based in the North East of the United Kingdom are celebrating after achieving official PAS1192-2 compliance certified status.
Howard Russell join only a handful of companies to achieve Level 2 BIM accreditation from an official certified accreditor, with their certification coming courtesy of the UKAS-verified Ocean Certification.
According to an official press release, Howard Russell believe that they are the only North East firm to be deemed Level 2 BIM compliant and only know of one other in the UK – presumably meaning contractor BDP who are BRE certified.
“This is a fantastic achievement for the team at Howard Russell, we have made a considerable investment in training and resources to get to this level and we are very proud of the accreditation,” declared Craig Muldoon, Howard Russell’s BIM Champion. “As an independent contractor this puts us at the forefront of the BIM working environment not only in the North East but on a national level.”
Howard Russell recently completed their first full BIM project, a warehouse refurbishment worth £3 million and have spent over £70,000 on new software and training to facility their BIM prowess.
Craig elaborated: “Having now experienced first-hand the benefits of using BIM for both client and contractor we find it hard to believe that more contractors are not pushing this within their organisations. All our staff are fully on board and we are also driving forward change by extending our knowledge further down the supply chain and actively encouraging sub-contractors to get BIM ready. This will allow the whole project team to integrate more effectively and use BIM as a primary tool on future projects.”
