Project Five Consulting‘s Michelle Brennan is in the limelight today in BIM Brunch. The BSc PhD-awarded Consultant discusses what it is like working for Project Five, her all-time favourite building and more.
What is your favourite career related website/blog?
Guardian sustainable business, I get a lot of useful information on here relating to sustainability which is great to share with industry.
The top industry event you have recently been to is?
I don’t go to many industry events but EcoBuild is a good one, full of innovation and ideas buzzing around!

What is your all-time favourite building?
St Peters, Rome. The architecture and art are breath-taking. Also The Pantheon – for a building to be standing almost two thousand years after it was built is amazing. To think what they achieved back then, such as the unreinforced concrete dome, without any of the technological advances we have today is just incredible.
What is your favourite project you have worked on?
Anything that creates social value!
What is the best thing about the team at Project Five?
Sense of Humour! And our passion to create change in the industry; it’s a really positive environment to work in.
What was the first BIM related project you have been a part of and what did you learn from the experience?
I haven’t worked on a BIM Project per se, but I have been part of the NFB BIM Early Adoption Programme and have seen positive changes in the way that industry are beginning to change their work processes and the tangible benefits that are being realised as a result of this. It’s been a journey for everyone and we have all learnt a lot from the experience.
The most exciting possibilities Building Information Modelling can offer are?
Innovation, sustainable solutions, reducing carbon emissions and creating much needed collaborative work environments.
Who or what made you want to work within the Architecture, Engineering and Construction sector?
My passion for sustainability and social value.
What is your proudest career highlight?
Achieving my PhD, this is what led me into the world of construction and put me on my career path to helping achieving sustainability and social value through construction.
What is the best part about your job?
I love the fact that every project is different and I get to work with a wide range of people. Each day is very different and I like the challenges that this can create. Most of all though I get to help create positive change in the industry.
Today’s BIM Brunch comes as Project Five are making major waves within the BIM sector in 2015. The consultants signed an agreement with BEST and are carrying out various BIM workshops across the UK including ‘What BIM Means for Me‘ and ‘BIM for Facilities Management‘.
